Why we Formed!

"Jefferson County West Virginia Amateur Radio Club is a group of Amateur Radio Operators with a special interest in emergency and community radio services. We also directly support the Jefferson County WV. OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT "ARES/RACES DIVISION."

"Amateur Radio in Jefferson County, Wv. is alive and well. For the last several months Jefferson County Amateur Radio Club has been busy putting together a community infrastructure that, in a disaster, will afford a comprehensive command and control for a small army of volunteer - radio communicators that get the messages through - no matter what. This infrastructure includes strategically placed HF equipment, mobile equipment, repeater communications equipment in both VHF and UHF bands, digital packet communication and a dedicated corp of experienced amateur radio operators to operater as "emergency communicators". What does an emergency communicator do? Train and drill, equip and prepare him or herself by investing his, her time and money in this venerable hobby in order to serve their community. Jefferson County ARC is looking for your help to continue to strenthen our backbone of amateur radio operators. Join our ARES organization, check out our monthly club meetings, but most of all -- be a part of it all. In case the day ever arrives where Amateur Radio Commuications takes center stage - WE ARE READY!!!"
